Terrific Third Thurs, Jag Bash, and Junior Achievement, Oh My!

Jag families,

It’s already the third week of the month, which means Terrific Third Thursday is this Thursday! Eat at the State Street Chick-Fil-A (remember to say you’re with HHMS PTO before you pay!), shop at Kroger with your HHMS PTO linked Kroger Card, and send in all those Box Tops that have been collecting dust in a drawer (trim and send in a baggie with your student’s name on a slip of paper inside the baggie).

Jag Bash is almost here! Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far to help with the event; your assistance is absolutely invaluable! We still need more volunteers, especially during the 8th grade celebration and for cleanup (we must leave the building by 11:20pm, so all hands on deck!). If you can help, please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0a44aaa628a13-jags  Any volunteers who still need to fill out a background check form, you can get it here: http://hhmspto.net/files/2018/04/Limited-Background-Check.pdf We also still need pictures of 8th graders for the 8th grade slideshow that will be shown during the 8th grade Bash. We’ve extended the deadline to Friday, April 20. Send pictures to hhmsclassof2018@gmail.com with the student name in the subject line.

And finally, HHMS 5th and 6th graders have an exciting opportunity this year with the Junior Achievement program “JA It’s My Future”, which will be given at HHMS this May. Teachers need volunteers in each classroom in the afternoons on May 9, 10, 11, 14, 15 & 16. The program offers practical information to help our students begin preparing for the working world. Students will learn to research careers, develop their personal brand, create a basic resume, recognize appropriate interview behavior, and more! Volunteers will guide students through the six lessons. Junior Achievement (JA) provides training and an organized kit with all the materials. You do not have to be a career expert; just bring your enthusiasm for helping students.
