Gearing Up for Another School Year!

Jag Families,

First of all we’d like to welcome our incoming 5th grade and transfer parents who have already signed up for our email list. We’re happy to have you as part of the Greatest Middle School on the Planet (GMS on the P!). And for those parents who no longer have students at HHMS and no longer wish to receive emails, there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of this message; we wish you and your students the best in your next school!

It’s hard to believe, but the end of summer is almost upon us! PTO is ready to hit the ground running, and we wanted to pass along important upcoming dates and events.

  • School schedules (all students) and locker information (6th-8th graders) will be arriving in the next few days.
  • School supply lists are available at http://hhms.nafcs.k12.in.us/view-supply-list/
  • Counselors and office staff will be available at school on July 18th and 19th from 12-3pm and 4-7pm to answer any questions. These are also good days to take your student to test out their lockers and walk their schedules.
  • 5th Grade and New Student Orientation will take place on Friday, July 21st from 10:00am-12:00pm. Students will meet in the gymnasium.
  • Open House will be split into two days with 5th/6th on Wednesday, July 26 from 5:00-6:30pm and 7th/8th on Thursday, August 3 from 6:00-7:30. For both Open Houses, parents will walk their student’s schedule to meet teachers; more specific information will be included in a mailing from school.
  • First student day is Thursday, July 27!

For both Open Houses, PTO will be in the Commons to assist with school maps, spirit wear samples, information packets, free school-year calendar magnets, cookies, and punch. The first 200 families to arrive each night will get a free HHMS auto decal, and we will also have a drawing for an HHMS Jags stadium chair! Ernstberger Orthodontics has also generously donated some freebies for us to pass out to our families.

On that note, we will need some volunteer help to make Open House run smoothly. It would be helpful to have 5th/6th grade parents who can work 7th/8th grade night and 7th/8th parents who can work 5th/6th grade night. If you’re able to help, please email volunteers@hhmspto.net. Volunteers should plan to be there 20 minutes early. Many thanks!
